Getting rid of unwanted body hair is a common problem for so many people. While you would love to get rid of the hair in certain areas of your body, you should know you are not alone. Vast numbers of individuals have the same desire. While there are many ways to remove hair, achieving permanent hair removal is something of a hit and miss process at the present time. While some people have achieved this outcome, others are not as fortunate in their endeavor to rid their bodies of unwanted hair growth in specific areas.
Although it may be difficult to get rid of hair permanently, some people have experienced significant hair removal that stays away for extended periods of time. This is good news for those who have been able to leave their razor, wax and chemical hair removal products on the shelf. There are many products claiming to be able to produce permanent hair removal; however, only two cosmetic hair removal approaches effectively get close to achieving this outcome.
Laser Hair Removal
The first of the two methods that get close to permanent hair removal is laser hair removal. This approach uses a laser to damage the pigment in the hair follicles in your skin. This method can significantly reduce hair growth after three to eight laser hair removal treatments. While this is not a guaranteed method of permanent hair removal, it has been a successful method for thinning hair regrowth up to 80-percent in some people. It has also been an effective method for preventing hair from growing back for long periods of time.
Some people find that all they need to do to keep hair away is to receive a maintenance treatment with a laser a couple times each year. In the past, this approach to hair removal was only used on people with light skin and dark hair. More recent lasers are able to be calibrated for more exotic skin tones and hair colors; thus, making this procedure more widely available to people who do not have light skin. This has been great news for people with darker skin tones seeking to have hair removed from their body.
Electrolysis
The second of the two approaches that gets close to achieving permanent hair loss is electrolysis. Using heat or chemicals, the process of electrolysis destroys hair follicles. As with laser hair removal, electrolysis requires multiple treatments to achieve desired results. Also, it is the only method of hair removal considered to be a form of permanent hair removal by the FDA and the AMA.
However, it is important to understand that this does not mean that you will necessarily achieve permanent hair loss using electrolysis either. Rather, it is simply one of those procedures that causes permanent hair loss in those people who it works for in that capacity. So, when it comes to determining who is a candidate for permanent hair loss, the trouble is that there is no guarantees of permanent hair removal when using either of the afore mentioned cosmetic approaches.
